For this post, i chose the “How Are Food and the Environment Related?” article, by Carolyn Denton. This article takes a deep dive into whether we are affecting the environment or the environment is affecting us. Carolyn argues that its both, and goes into detail about why. For instance on how we affect the environment, it explains that our dieting affects the environment. She explains that its because of the way we grow the necessary ingredients to satisfy our diets, which is with pesticides and chemicals. That is the prime reason for this negative impact. But the article also talks about the fact that the environment has various kinds of toxins that can harm us within these diets. For instance, coming from The EPA, asthma, autism, cancer, lung disease, Parkinson’s disease, and conditions associated with reproductive health, are strongly linked to environmental exposure. I strongly believe that what Carolyn is saying is correct. She gives proper evidence and data from The Environmental Protection Agency, The Genes and Environment Initiative, and The US Department of Agriculture, about the negatives of both sides. I take this position mainly because of the evidence as i said. Many other claims only pay attention to how we affect the environment, and approach with the same argument. Since this article pays attention to both sides and gives much evidence supporting both sides, it is only fair that this is a very credible and believable article.
